Grandma Pwns You!
Doris Self, who’s 80, will be trying to claim back her title of “World’s Oldest Video Game Champion” at London’s CGEUK on August 13th. Doris laid out the smack down in Q*Bert back in 1984 with a score of 1,112,300. That score has since been topped and the current record stands at around 1.8×106 (1.8 million) points. What makes it even more impressive is she tried to beat the current top score a couple of weeks ago by playing Q*Bert for FOUR STRAIGHT DAYS.
There’s a full press release over at Twin Galaxies, I can only hope that if I make 80, I can still garner respect from people a quarter my age by being just totally awesome : )

How the heck does one play Q*Bert anyway? I’ve never really been able to figure out what I’m supposed to be doing on that game.
You know, I have absolutely no idea. I know of Q*Bert, and I know I’ve tried playing it a few times in the distant past, but the point and dynamics of the game have always escaped me.
Wierd. Oh well, nice to see you’ve got HCG back up again Yorrike. :)
I suppose we could like…look on gameFAQs or something, but who wants to waste the time for that. Bah.
