GBA Emulation on PSP

Following on from yesterday’s article regarding MAME on the PSP, Engadget has word that there’s a GBA emulator working on the PSP, which is pretty impressive.

But don’t get your hopes up too high, little Jimmy McPirate, I’ve been lead to believe through my various web browsing that GBA emulation is highly CPU intensive, so it’s not likely this acheivement will be pumping out Superstar Saga or Final Fantasty Tactics Advance at full speed, or with sound. The ROM size is limited to 16MB too, which will stop the larger of the GBA’s games from being loadable, despite the fact it’s all rather “illegal”.

It’ll be interesting to see how far PSP hacking and homebrewing community can go. Ad-hoc social networking through WiFi? Hacking, cracking and phreaking on the go (*snicker*)? Seti@home in your pocket? Anything’s possible, even things related to gaming!
